GRAFster5 started out as a
program known as Plot v1 and OptionTools2 was preceded by Options v1,
both written in the 'C' language in pre-M$ Windows days. They were
created because the author believed the few security analysis and
option modeling programs
then available were either overpriced, gave incorrect values,
misleading or lacking in certain
crucial respects.
Plot v1 was rewritten using Visual Basic when M$ Win v3.1 was
introduced back in 1991. Known as Plot v3, it was among the first M$
Windows
charting applications and gained quite wide use. The principles of
simplicity, ease of use and affordability guided their design and
development. Less is more! Those of you who are new to technical
analysis of security price behavior would be well advised to avoid
purchasing expensive charting software when starting out. Use the
economical tools offered here to help you decide yourself if 'this
stuff works'. Preserve your capital! Don't forget that 'money attracts brains' and you are up against 'Rocket Scientist' types.
The current incarnations of GRAFster and OptionTools came about because
of the program speed improvements and size reductions available with
Borland's RAD tool, Delphi, using the Object Pascal language. |

| The Author PeteR. |
PeteR's previous lives
included gigs as a technical writer, marketer and general manager of a
manufacturing operation. A corporate buyout enabled him to transmogrify
(a word more fun than mutate!) into an
independent software developer and consultant specializing in
financial
applications and trading systems. He's been at it for 20-years. His
formal education includes a B.A. in philosophy/mathematics from the
University of Illinois and a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
PeteR.
is a Reduce, Reuse and Recycle zealot ... why pay when you can
get
it for free? Less is More! This thinking led to the creation of
GimmeFreeData.
His computers have been pieced together
from alley finds and they work great. An avid cyclist, he also
makes available to those in
need his line of urban 'Dumpster' branded
bicycles, also pieced together from alley discards.
He
lived and worked from
his home located just a few steps from the Lake Michigan beach in
Chicago's
far North Side Rogers Park neighborhood. An active trader/investor, he
does indeed use the tools he created and offers here. After completing
2-years of service with the Peace Corps at the University of The
Gambia, he's now living there near the beach, enjoying the 'Smiling
Coast' of West Africa. Life is good!
